NRMC Wound Center Celebrates 10th Anniversary
NRMC Wound Center is celebrating a decade of healing wounds and improving lives. Since 2015, the Wound Center has treated over 6,290 patients providing specialized care and treatments for chronic and problem wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments or
responded to normal medical care within 30 days.
“We have seen tremendous improvements in many chronic and problem wounds,” stated Dr. Marcus Stokes, NRMC Wound Center Medical Director. “With the state-of-the-art treatments available, including debridement, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, advanced wound care, casting and patient education, people battling chronic and problem wounds have a place where they can get treatment to heal their wounds. It is rewarding to know that we play a major role in patients being able to walk out of our Center on their own two feet and not have to lose a limb due to amputation,” explained Dr. Stokes. “We have even helped a patient regain her sense of taste after receiving treatments at NRMC Wound Center.

“What began as a 2,800 square foot facility with 2 hyperbaric oxygen chambers has grown to a 7,015 square foot state-of-the-art comprehensive wound center with 6 hyperbaric chambers,” explained Kirk Soileau, NRMC Chief Executive Officer. “Right here in Natchitoches, we have created one of the nation’s premier wound care centers and have treated patients from Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and even Columbia. What sets our Wound Center apart is that we not only treat the wound, but we also treat the underlying cause of the wound. Our exceptional wound care team was able to heal a patient that was facing the possibility of amputation after battling a chronic wound for over 20 years. NRM Wound Center is truly making an impact by saving limbs and saving lives.
