NRMC Comprehensive Wound Care Services
With six hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers and a well trained team, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center’s Comprehensive Wound Care Services has provided care for chronic and non-healing wounds since 2015. The $3 million expansion opened with two chambers, but the demand for wound care services has grown exponentially ever since, resulting in two more chambers being added in 2017 and an additional expansion is planned for 2019-20.
Award Winning Care
NRMC’s wound care services received three national awards from Healogics, the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. NRMC was named as a Center of Distinction; a Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence; and to the President’s Circle.
The Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. Associated with diabetes, inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds lead to a lower quality of life and may lead to amputations. When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing. Typically, a wound that does not respond to normal medical care within 30 days is considered a problem or chronic wound.
That’s where Natchiotches Regional Medical Center’s Comprehensive Wound Care Center can help. With the state-of-the-art treatments available including debridement, dressing selection, special shoes, and patient education, people with non-healing and chronic wounds now have a place to turn.
With four hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers and a well-trained team, the state-of-the-art center offers an effective means to promote healing, thereby helping to restore healthy tissue and skin.
Who May Benefit From Specialized Care? Anyone who has a wound that has not begun to heal in 2 weeks or has not completely healed in 4 to 6 weeks.
Partnership with the leading wound care management team leads to successful healing.
Through a partnership with Healogics, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is able to offer a new and comprehensive center offering specialized wound care. Healogics is the world’s largest wound care management company delivering excellent evidence-based care to patients with chronic wounds.
