NRMC Comprehensive Wound Care Services

NRMC’s Comprehensive Wound Care Services has provided care for chronic and non-healing wounds since 2015. Originally, the $3 million expansion opened with two hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers, but the demand for wound care services grew exponentially, resulting in the need for two additional chambers  in 2017. In 2020,  a brand new expanded facility opened with approximately 7,000 square feet of space and six chambers.

With a beautiful waiting area, convenient front door parking reserved for patients only, and  additional treatment rooms, the  state-of-the-art Center coupled with our well-trained wound care team, provides award-winning care with specialized treatments for wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. The Center offers an effective means to promote healing and to help restore healthy tissue and skin.

The new Wound Center is located at the rear of the hospital on the corner of Bienville Street and East Fifth Street.

Award Winning Care

The NRMC Wound Center was recently recognized for receiving the Center of Distinction Award; the prestigious Robert A. Warriner, III Clinical Excellence Award for 2021, and a 2021 President’s Circle Award recipient.     For more than a decade, Healogics has presented the Center of Distinction Award to acknowledge the hard work, dedication and accomplishments of Wound Centers that deliver care, treatment and services in a manner that exceeds the performance of other like Centers.

Center of Distinction awards are given to Centers that achieve or exceed outstanding clinical and operational results, including ≥ 92% Patient Satisfaction Rate, ≥ 75% Wound Adjusted Comprehensive Healing Rate and a ≤ 16% Outlier Rate.To be awarded the Clinical Excellence Award, a Center must score in the top 10 percent of eligible Wound Care Centers for 2021 on the Clinical Excellence measure, which is the Comprehensive Healing Rate weighted by wound mix.

The 2021 President’s Circle Award is based on achieving or exceeding outstanding clinical and operational results in 2021. This award distinguishes winners as the best of the best.

“We are exceptionally proud of our outstanding wound care team,” explained Kirk Soileau, NRMC CEO. “Since opening, they have consistently set high standards of care and customer service and performed their work at the top deciles nationally. Their ability to heal problem wounds is astounding. They improve their patients’ quality of life by successfully treating wounds that impact every aspect of life: physically and emotionally. Most importantly, they are saving lives and limbs. Thank you to every member of the NRMC Wound Care team for your care and commitment to our community.”

Healing Wounds

The Center provides specialized treatment for chronic or non-healing wounds, which are defined as sores or wounds that have not significantly improved from conventional treatments. Associated with diabetes, inadequate circulation, poorly functioning veins, and immobility, non-healing wounds lead to a lower quality of life and may lead to amputations. When wounds persist, a specialized approach is required for healing. Typically, a wound that does not respond to normal medical care within 30 days is considered a problem or chronic wound.

That’s where Natchiotches Regional Medical Center’s Comprehensive Wound Care Center can help. With the state-of-the-art treatments available including debridement, dressing selection, special shoes, and patient education, people with non-healing and chronic wounds now have a place to turn.

With six hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers and a well-trained team, the state-of-the-art center offers an effective means to promote healing, thereby helping to restore healthy tissue and skin.

Who May Benefit From Specialized Care? Anyone who has a wound that has not begun to heal in 2 weeks or has not completely healed in 4 to 6 weeks.
