NRMC Recipient of Funds for Safety Grant
For the third year in a row, the Louisiana Hospital Association (LHA) Trust Funds have named Natchitoches Regional Medical Center as one of 14 recipients of its Funds for Safety Grant. Each year, the program awards up to $300,000 to LHA Trust Fund members for initiatives designed to improve safety or reduce liability exposure.
“Every year, we receive numerous innovative project ideas from our member organizations designed to improve patient safety at their facility,” said Cindy Dolan, President and CEO of LHA Trust Funds. She added, “I am glad we are able to provide resources to assist our members in implementing these extraordinary ideas to improve safety in their facilities.”
NRMC’s grant proposal this year identified two initiatives. The first was to Improve Management of Severe Sepsis and Sepsis Shock. “Training clinical teams on the best practices for managing this life-threatening condition further strengthens our team’s ability to respond quickly and appropriately,” explained Kirk Soileau, NRMC Chief Executive Officer. “Our second project was to provide Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Training for Security Guards. This training helps prepare our guards, so they can effectively de-escalate potentially volatile situations.” Soileau noted. “This is the third year in a row that we have received grants for important safety efforts here at the hospital. I am extremely proud of our Associates on their commitment to patient safety, and greatly appreciate LHA Trust Funds for their generous award so that these initiatives can succeed.”
Created in 2012 to help fund LHA Trust Funds members’ initiatives to improve patient or visitor safety, the Funds for Safety Grant Program has awarded $1.5 million to fund 71 unique projects of member hospitals in Louisiana.
