NRMC Continues Black History Month Lecture Series
Monday, February 27, 2023 Natchitoches Regional Medical Center continued their annual Black History Month lecture series by welcoming Dr. Michael Snowden, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at Northwestern State University.
“Black History Month is only 28 days, but the impact of the Black community should be acknowledged every day of the year. This lecture series provides NRMC leadership with an opportunity to continue their education, not only about Black history and culture but also, about inclusion and diversity in our organization,” said Dr. Mason, Chief Medical Officer.
Dr. Snowden’s presentation focused on the importance of pride, pageantry, and perseverance in the Black community by showcasing influential African American leaders and how that will influence the future of the community.
“As a person who has worked in diversity, equity, and inclusion, I value the opportunity to educate about Black History. There is always something new to learn. I am committed to empowering people I meet about the contributions of Black people. I get excited, knowing something I have said, may have helped educate a person on a hidden or lesser-known Black history fact or achievement,” said Dr. Snowden.
NRMC is committed to highlighting and promoting diversity throughout the organization. We are committed to developing a workforce that reflects the diversity of the community that we serve.
