NRMC Acquires Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center
Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) has expanded its services with the acquisition of the Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center. Effective August 16th, the NRMC Cancer Center will open providing continuing care for existing patients while focusing on further building key services.
“Because cancer touches so many families in our parish, NRMC wanted to take a leadership role in fighting this disease. Our goal is to create a seamless service in which cancer patients benefit from having access to the hospital’s full range of patient care services, physicians, and technology in addition to the outpatient care offered at the NRMC Cancer Center.
By creating this impressive continuum of care, we have the best opportunity to improve and save lives,” explained Kirk Soileau, NRMC Chief Executive Officer. “We appreciate all those with Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center for their years of service to our community. The legacy of the original physicians and physician partners should be applauded. We are building our new Cancer Center on what they began back in 2008. Together, we will be able to serve even more people than was previously possible,” explained Soileau.
The NRMC Cancer Center has a dedicated group of physicians who are involved in its creation. These doctors envision a premier cancer center with excellent outcomes, precise care plans, and a multispecialty approach to diagnosis and treatment. “I am looking forward to the future of cancer services in our community and working with the medical staff at NRMC to further grow cancer subspecialties,” explained Dr. Brian Picou, a managing partner. “The families of Natchitoches, Winn, Sabine and the region will be the benefactors of these services. This is a huge step in the right direction as we move forward in our community-wide fight against cancer.”
At the helm of the operational team at NRMC’s Cancer Center is Sarah Nelson, PMP. “I am honored to be joining the NRMC team of healthcare professionals in my new position as Director of Oncology,” explained Nelson. “NRMC has the leadership, access, innovation, and resources to take cancer treatment and delivery to the next level. With the NRMC Cancer Center, we will be able to grow and expand our cancer-fighting services for patients across our region with the comfort of being close to home,” explained Nelson.
To further enhance the clinical care and patient comfort, NRMC plans to phase in a number of renovations in upcoming months. Focusing on patient needs and expectations, the new center will have many amenities and technical upgrades and ample space for future expansions as needed.
