Another Excellent Physician Joins NRMC Medical Staff
Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce the opening of yet another clinic, NRMC Medicine Associates, and welcome its newest physician, Dr. Keith Meredith Ashby.
An an internist, Dr. Ashby has a particular interest in helping patients with chronic and often complex health concerns, including those with multiple diseases or health issues. His goal is to prevent acute illnesses and complications for these patients and help them stay as healthy as possible. He has an extensive background as a hospitalist and working with patients in Intensive Care Units. His career also includes serving as a Clinical Instructor in Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine as well as Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans. Dr. Ashby is also the Director of Medical Student Education and Assistant Professor of Medicine with the Via College of Osteopathic Medicine at Rapides.
“Dr. Ashby is especially attuned to the general medicine needs of those with cancer, kidney disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, asthma and other conditions as well as those with more routine primary care needs such as colds, flus, and digestive issues,” explained Kirk Soileau, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center’s Chief Executive Officer. “At NRMC, we want to ensure our community has access to primary care and internal medicine close to home, and we welcome Dr. Ashby’s expertise to NRMC Medicine Associates.”
Dr. Ashby received his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Illinois at the College of Medicine in Chicago. He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center, Department of Medicine, where he also was Chief Resident. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Michigan. His research, lectures and publication interests include topics such as diabetes, HIV, endocrinology, osteoporosis, asthma, and cancer.
