Welcoming Dr. Ronnie Ursin as Chief Nursing Officer

Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce Ronnie Ursin, DNP, MBA, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE as Chief Nursing Officer. In this role, Dr. Ursin will direct and oversee all aspects of nursing services and care delivery for the health system including the hospital, The Courtyard of Natchitoches, Natchitoches Assisted Living, and the NRMC clinic network.
Beginning his career as a staff nurse in Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. Ursin has built an impressive nursing and leadership career which spans two decades and includes experience in strategic planning, performance improvement, organizational management and fiscal responsibility. In his most recent Executive Leadership positions, he served as Chief Executive Officer for Jennersville Hospital in West Grove, Pennsylvania, and Chief Nursing Officer at the 165-bed Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston, Louisiana. Previously, he served as Division Director for Medical Services at Reading Hospital, a 745-bed hospital in Reading, Pennsylvania; Senior Director of Nursing at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC; Nursing Director, Pulmonary, at MedStar Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC; and Clinical Director for Inpatient Services at Opelousas General Health System in Louisiana.
Dr. Ursin received a Bachelor of Science in Public Health Administration from Dillard University in New Orleans. He holds an Associate Degree in Nursing from Los Angeles Trade-Technical College in California; a Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as a Master of Science and Post-Masters Certificate in Teaching Nursing and Health Professions in 2007 from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. He earned a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, and a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland.
Dr. Ursin’s professional affiliations include: Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives; a Current Board Member in the Association of Black Nursing Faculty; Board of Associates at Hood College and a member of the National Association of Health Service Executives. He has edited and published many scholarly articles on healthcare.
In 2018, Dr. Ursin was recognized by Modern Healthcare’s Leaders to Watch as part of the Top 25 Minority Executives in Healthcare. In 2015, he was honored as Nurse of the Year Nominee, Transformation Leadership, Reading Health System and a 2015 Trailblazer Award by the National Black Nurses Association.
