Valencia Sarpy Jones Appointed to NRMC Board of Commissioners
Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) is pleased to announce that Valencia Sarpy Jones has been appointed to its Board of Commissioners.
NRMC is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners appointed by the Natchitoches Parish President. The Board gives direction and governance to NRMC’s CEO, Kirk Soileau, who leads the health system’s senior management team. The Board ensures legal and regulatory compliance and is responsible for the oversight of the hospital’s operations.
Ms. Jones joins Commissioners Ronald Corkern, Chairman; John Luster; Chris Ingram, M.D.; Samuel Jackson; Michael Newton, and James Kilcoyne, Parish Council Representative. There has been one vacant seat since the passing earlier this year of long-time, dedicated Board member, Mr. Arthur Welch. With the appointment of Ms. Jones, the Board once again has seven members.
“We want to thank Ms. Jones for her commitment to our community and her willingness to share her time, experience and expertise as a Board member,” noted Kirk Soileau, Chief Executive Officer. “She is also a service-driven professional who is committed to the betterment of our community. She joins a group of exceptional leaders on the Board who have played a critical role in what NRMC has become today. Their work helps ensure NRMC’s sustainability and growth. Above all else, they share a vision to improve the health and wellbeing of our community and ensure access to great care and services close to home.”
Ms. Jones earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from Louisiana State University and has built her career as an agent and financial planner with New York Life Insurance Company where she is a Registered Representative offering securities. Her expertise includes areas of estate conservation, tax efficient retirement planning, charitable giving, lifetime income strategies, insurance protection and other personal and business financial needs.
Ms. Jones’ background also includes extensive community service. She serves on numerous boards including the Natchitoches Historic Downtown Development District, the Natchitoches Jazz R&B Festival, the executive board of the Boy Scouts of America Norwela Council, and is a dedicated member of the Service League of Natchitoches.
With demonstrated leadership experience, Ms. Jones was appointed by Governor John Bel Edwards in 2016 to the LSU Board of Supervisors as a representative of the 4th Congressional District and reappointed in June 2022 for a second term. In September of 2021, she was unanimously elected by her colleagues as chair-elect and subsequently as Chairman in 2022.
Ms. Jones also serves as an advocate for the insurance industry on Capitol Hill and is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
Ms. Jones is married to Jerry Jones Jr., PT., MPT., and businessman, and they have two sons, Brady and Tripp.
