Breast Cancer Surgery
When I went for my annual mammogram, radiologist Dr. Ben Hogg saw something suspicious and did an ultrasound. Concerned, he recommended I see a surgeon and get a biopsy. The mammography technologist who did my mammogram knew I was planning on going to see my doctor in Shreveport, but she placed a piece of paper in my hand with Dr. Bill Ball’s phone number on it and said to hold onto it in case I wanted a second opinion. When I got in my car, I called my physician whose first opening wasn’t for 3 weeks. As reality began to set in, I wanted a plan, so I called Dr. Ball’s office. Shay Ball answered the phone and could hear the worry in my voice. She said if you want to drive over now, we’ll work you in. As soon as I arrived, everyone was so supportive, and they answered all my questions and gave me options. That’s how my journey with breast cancer began in 2015.
Thanks to Dr. Ball and all my doctors, everyone at NRMC, and Northwestern Louisiana Cancer Center, I did well with treatment. That’s why I believe in the healthcare community we have here in Natchitoches.”
