NRMC Walk-In Clinic Celebrates 10th Anniversary

What started in 2014 as the first steps in bringing urgent care to our community has grown into so much more. Today, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center (NRMC) Walk-In Clinic sees over 35,000 patients each year. From keeping the community up to date on immunizations, to providing care for minor illnesses and injuries, and helping student athletes with physicals and more, the Walk-in Clinic team has earned a reputation for providing high quality care, customer service, and convenience.

“In the past decade, NRMC Walk-In Clinic has grown and evolved in numerous ways,” stated Charlotte Rhodes, LPN, Clinical Practice Manager. “Providing quality health care with the convenience our community needs has always been and will always be our focus. We are committed to the wellbeing of our community and are honored to have served them for the past 10 years and look forward to serving them for many more.”

“When I go to the grocery, out-to-eat or to a festival, there are so many people I see who have been our patients through the years,” explained Misty Lester, DNP, Walk-In Clinic Advanced Practice Provider Manager.  “From minor health issues like sore throats and stomach aches to those who have more serious issues that we triage and get to the ER, what we do is important for the well-being of our community. Minor things can quickly become bigger health concerns, so by diagnosing and treating people when symptoms first arise, we are able to quickly get them feeling better in most cases. We all appreciate our patients’ trust. It means a lot that they keep choosing us when they have a minor illness or injury.”

“The Walk-In Clinic team continually raises the bar for themselves and strives to meet and exceed all the quality measures we have in place,” explained Kirk Soileau, NRMC Chief Executive Officer. “They always step forward when needed. During the pandemic, they quickly mobilized as a team to provide COVID tests and then later the vaccine. They always show up when an event needs us to man a first-aid tent, or student athletes at NSU need care, or highschoolers need a sport physical, and so much more. But what defines them the most is the way they serve as patient advocates and speak up if a patient needs any kind of extra help or support. And they are always focused on ensuring great customer service. They are an excellent team, and I speak for all our Associates in congratulating and thanking them on 10 years of outstanding community service.”

With a focus on convenience, the Walk-In Clinic is open daily except for Christmas Day from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Under the direction of a physician, nurse practitioners serve patients three months and older. The Clinic offers laboratory services and x-rays onsite. Appointments are available but not needed. Simply walk in at your convenience.
