Position Summary

 The Logistics Courier will receive and pick up packages, documents, messages, labs, equipment, prescriptions, and other items, and deliver them to specified recipients or locations.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Securely delivers packages, documents, written and verbal messages, and other items to intended location or recipient in a timely manner.
  2. Manages incoming mail so that it is opened, sorted, and distributed in a professional and timely manner.
  3. Processes outgoing mail.
  4. Receives and delivers labs, prescriptions, medical equipment, etc.
  5. Obtains required signatures and/or payments at time of delivery.
  6. Maintains accurate records related to the receipt and delivery of packages, documents, messages, and other items, including tracking time of and parties to the delivery.
  7. Unloads items from large trucks and loads them onto smaller vehicles for delivery.  
  8. May perform office, clerical, and other related duties as assigned.
  9. May perform duties of Patient Transporter.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned. 


  1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  2. Basic understanding of customer service. 
  3. Ability to maintain accurate records.  
  4. Ability to understand and follow directions.
  5. Ability to maintain the safety and security of packages, documents, messages, and other items received or being delivered.
  6. Thorough understanding of maps and directions, and traffic rules.

  3. Requires walking up to 1/3 of the time.

  5. Requires lifting of 10 to 50 pounds up to 1/3 of the time.
  6. Requires the use of hands/fingers to lift, carry, push, and pull of objects up to 1/3 of the time.
  7. Requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling up to 1/3 of the time.
  8. Requires bending at least 1/10 of the time.
  9. Requires reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling of objects at least 2/3 or more of the time.
  10. Requires taste or smell up to 1/3 of the time.
  11. Requires good vision for near and distance with the ability to focus.
  12. Requires the ability to hear and identify clinical alarms on equipment.
  13. Requires the ability to hear on the client call system as well as staff in order to be an effective communication link.
  14. Environment: Work is performed primarily inside a central air medical facility.
  15. Hazards: May be exposed to infectious body fluids; noxious fumes/odors. Risks of electrical shock.

 Required Education and Experience

  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Successful completion of a course on handling sensitive or hazardous packages may be required.
  3. Driver’s license and clean driving record required.  

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Past experience as messenger or courier.
