Position Summary:

Chief Financial Officer serves in a high level administrative capacity both hospital-wide and over specific areas of responsibility. This position directs and oversees all financial activities, including preparation of financial reports, as well as summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.  Other departments within the hospital may report to this position. This position must function in all areas of responsibility within the parameters of local, state, and federal regulations, as well as the guidelines of various regulatory agencies.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Chief Financial Officer 

Directs all financial activities of facility including preparation of reports, summaries, and forecasts for future growth; prepares annual budget for facility; directs preparation of all financial reports, income statements, balance sheets, and reports for government regulatory agencies; oversees accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions; meets regularly with department heads within area of responsibility; reviews and analyzes reports and makes suggestions for improvements; analyzes operations to pinpoint opportunities for savings, reorganization, down-sizing, or elimination; communicates with Chief Executive Officer and governing body to coordinate and prioritize planning; participates in long-range strategic planning; provides data on requirements for capital; monitors monthly performance of facility in relation to budget, intervening as needed;

C. Miscellaneous Duties 

Provides administrative leadership to assure a high level of customer service on all levels within facility; completes annual performance evaluations on direct report staff; ensures a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff; assures adequate preparation for regulatory compliance surveys; maintains effective relationships and open communication with patients, families, staff, contractors, and the outside community; participates in continual training for professional growth; other duties as assigned.

Expected to participate in civic affairs within the local community.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT

Bachelor’s Degree required; CPA preferred. 

Seven years hospital experience preferred.

Five years management experience in healthcare setting preferred.
