Steel Magnolia Run – June 6-13
Join Us Virtually” June 6-13th to Participate in Our Virtual Steel Magnolia Run
To all our participants, after much consideration, we have made the decision not to host our Annual Steel Magnolia Run on NSU’s campus this year. The safety and health of our participants is our top concern, and we feel this is not the right time for a large gathering.
However, we are excited to invite you to “join us virtually” June 6-13th to participate in our Virtual Steel Magnolia Run. We are encouraging participants who are healthy and well to throw on their Steel Magnolia Run t-shirt and take to the streets, treadmills, beaches, or parks and run or walk in support of Breast Health. Capture it on camera and share your selfies and videos along the way. Follow us on Facebook and post in the comment section using #SteelMagnoliaRun or tag us @ nrmc_natchitoches. Registered participants who share their run/walk with us will receive a participation medal!
Thank you to all our participants, sponsors, and volunteers you have played an instrumental role in supporting 3D mammography services at NRMC’s new Breast Center, which is now open! This technology helps doctors find breast cancer at its earliest stages, and early detection saves lives. Thank you for your support of this important initiative.
The Steel Magnolia Run
A Steel Magnolia is a woman who exemplifies both traditional femininity as well as uncommon fortitude. Each of us knows an amazing woman who has come face to face with cancer with the dignity of a steel magnolia.
Research shows that 1 in every 8 American women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their life. Breast cancer has the highest incident rate in Louisiana with the second highest death rate of all cancers.
Diagnosis is critically important. And Natchitoches Regional Medical Center is taking action by launching a brand new Breast Health Center with the latest in 3D digital mammography. The design of the Breast Health Center focuses on comfort fit for a magnolia.
