Carson went above and beyond for our Grandmother Mary Leach, throughout her entire stay, up until her last days. He was very attentive and caring. He made sure to communicate to us about everything that was going on and answered all of our questions. The last few days she was alive, he knew her condition and showed up four hours early for his shift to run a special machine that our grandmother needed to be on. Our family is so thankful for Carson and his amazing care — it made our last few days with her a lot easier. He is truly one of a kind. Words cannot express how thankful we are for all he did for us.
The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day.
The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the autoFimmune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way. Please say thank you by sharing your story of how a nurse made a difference you will never forget!
