A Message from Our CEO

Kirk SoileauKirk Soileau, CEO

In the past three years, we have seen a 39 percent growth in patient volumes. I want to thank our community for your trust.

More than 95,000 patients were treated through our Emergency Department, Hospital, and Network of Clinics in 2015.

We attribute this increase in patients to our ability to create the right balance of programs and services and to do so while improving quality of care and patient satisfaction.

It has been three years since we established our three patient- centered organizational goals and began a new chapter for Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.

Our goals are straightforward:

  • Be in the top percentile for patient satisfaction compared to national benchmarks
  • Become a Top 100 Hospital, a distinction based upon specific criteria including in-depth details related to quality of care and customer service
  • Earn the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award. Only a few hospitals have earned this distinction, and NRMC is working diligently to further develop the processes and accountability needed to achieve this level of excellence.

One area which we have focused heavily on in terms of improving customer service is our Emergency Department. Three years ago, patients waited on average more than 110 minutes from the time they entered the department until the time they saw a healthcare provider for non-life threatening illnesses and injuries. Today patients are seen in 22 minutes which is well below the national average. By streamlining paperwork, enhancing triage processes, and designating patient care tracks, we have dramatically improved customer service.

Our inpatient units now score at the 75th percentile in 6 out of 9 HCAP quality categories and in Ambulatory Surgery. In fact, we have scored at the 95th percentile for the past six consecutive quarters. Kudos to our surgery team.

Above all else, the NRMC hospital team is united in its vision to be the kind of hospital patients believe in and recommend to their family and friends. Each day, we are moving closer to our goals, but please keep in mind that our objective is not to become the biggest hospital in the state of Louisiana, but to become one of the best. As we continue to pursue our three organizational goals, we are realizing the power of teamwork, commitment, and vision, and we take pride in the hospital we are becoming. Again, thank you for your support and confidence.
